Refugee Film Festival: Hearing from Refugees

“I’m a refugee. I have no choice. I have no voice.”

There is an undeniable truth in this poignant chorus from awarding winning musician of conscience, Helen Mottee.

Refugee Film Festival 2009

The world, today, sees 31.7 million refugees who, too often, have been silenced by the suffering they have undergone. Their voices should be listened to, though. Their stories should be told.

In recognition of World Refugee Day, Crossroads has teamed up with the UNHCR, the United Nations’ Refugee Agency, to bring the Refugee Film Festival to Hong Kong’s screens. From June 21st – June 26th, we will offer a selection of films that give voice to the stories of hope, despair and resilience from refugees, worldwide.

For more information on the films, click here.

The festival finale will feature the outstanding musician quoted above: Helen Mottee. Come and hear her perform songs of conscience, including her widely acclaimed song about refugees. Click on the YouTube link below to hear the song!

Helen will be performing on Friday night, June 26th at the Kubrick Café. Click here for more details.

All films will be shown at the Broadway Cinematheque. Click here for bookings or more information.
